Effect of Particle Shape on Parameter Calibration for a Discrete Element Model for Mining Applications

چکیده
The discrete element method (DEM) has been widely employed to model processes in different industries, such as mining, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and food. One of the main lines research, which authors propose several approaches, is calibration parameters. Bulk (BCA) a common approach used that does not necessarily represent individual behavior each particle. On other hand, direct measurement (DMA) another some cases. This work presents comparison between DEM parameters with non-cohesive spherical polyhedral particles using combination bulk calibration. BCA calibrate friction DMA characterize shape coefficient restitution contact particles. Experimental data from Draw Down Tests are Numerical optimization conducted by altering coefficients regarding objective variables mass flow, final mass, shear angle, angle repose. Quartz, granite, coal calibrated, obtaining good agreement experimental results. influence particle tested, proving more complex obtain better results for analyzed case.

investigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures
deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...

abstract: about 60% of total premium of insurance industry is pertained?to life policies in the world; while the life insurance total premium in iran is less than 6% of total premium in insurance industry in 2008 (sigma, no 3/2009). among the reasons that discourage the life insurance industry is the problem of adverse selection. adverse selection theory describes a situation where the inf...
15 صفحه اولa study on thermodynamic models for simulation of 1,3 butadiene purification columns
attempts have been made to study the thermodynamic behavior of 1,3 butadiene purification columns with the aim of retrofitting those columns to more energy efficient separation schemes. 1,3 butadiene is purified in two columns in series through being separated from methyl acetylene and 1,2 butadiene in the first and second column respectively. comparisons have been made among different therm...
